What We Are Looking For
We are looking for an editor to create and lead online content across Wavelength’s online media, retail and events channels.
Wavelength is one of the original surfing publications. Today, Wavelength has the largest online following of any other media first surf platform in Europe.
In recent years Wavelength has expanded its offering to include an online shop alongside well regarded Wavelength events.
Key to Success
The next online editor will be an accomplished content creator for both a core surf and general lifestyle audience. They must have applied management skills in order to be able to lead a global team of content creators. They will also be digital savvy with an in-depth understanding of how to effectively create content for a digital audience.

Responsibilities
The online editor of Wavelength must be able to create and source content, manage and team and be digitally savvy.
Content Creation
Delivering content across, online media, retail and WL events channels. Your responsibilities will include:
- Regular news article each week
- Content for editorial emails
- Delivering paid marketing campaigns (with agency partners)
Team management
Managing a team of freelance writers and to ensure Wavelength stays relevant across its core content themes:
- Maintaining high editorial standards
- Leading the content plan
- Building a team
- Leading social media content
- Working with Wavelength’s global network of content creators
- Commissioning work
Digitally Savvy
Take a combined approach to online content across owned, earned and paid media:
- Optimise all content
- Building organic traffic
- Increase owned audience
- Know your audience (analytics)
- Take a data led approach
Wavelength Media
Wavelength Media is an independent media and events company, set up to inspire people to get outdoors, be healthy and live a more sustainable life. Originated in 1981 by Wavelength Surf Magazine, the editorial team now delivers content and brand partnership across multiple channels. The Wavelength shop sits as part of the media offering and is in line with a commitment to a reader first approach.

- The Spring Classic – Surf Music and Moto festival in North Devon.
The Drive-in Cinema – ‘the world’s most beautiful drive-in cinema’ (Time Out) - The Blue Earth Summit – a 3 day environmental impact event held in Bristol that underpins Wavelength Media’s overall commitment to positive change around the way in which we can all live and work towards a more sustainable future.
- Wavelength Surf Film Festival – showcasing a collection of some of the greatest surf movies produced over the past year. The event tours multiple locations.
